Ben Law
Founder & CEO
G'day, my name’s Ben and I was raised on a beef cattle and cropping farm in the Liverpool Plains, Northwest NSW. Farming has been in my family for three generations, and many of my relatives, including my parents, are still working the land. I have seen and experienced first-hand the highs and lows and rewards and challenges of farming, and I understand at my very core how Aussie farmers think and operate.
After completing a degree in Agricultural Economics at the University of New England, I launched myself into a career in finance; initially earning my stripes as a hedge fund manager in London before building my own award-winning financial advice practice in Brisbane, where I was helping farming families manage their finances and build their wealth.
Twenty years on, I was left wondering exactly when my dream job, drive to succeed and any semblance of excitement or joy for my work had been replaced by exhaustingly long hours, high stress levels, and a never-ending list of government red tape and compliance B.S.
Yet even then, my brain wasn’t ready to listen… so my body turned the volume up full blast....
After an unignorable health-scare catapulted me out of autopilot mode, I knew I needed to make some significant changes, if not for my own benefit, for the sake of my wife and young daughter.
So, I pulled the plug. I sold my business. I surrendered my financial advice licence. And I retired. Just like that!
…but then I got bored.
After a lot of reflection and self-analysis, I realised my passion has always been helping farming families and the wider rural community to grow and thrive. I just needed to find a new way to do that.
I discovered that I could have a bigger impact on the rural community by sharing my distinctive blend of skills and experience to a much wider audience… which was when my alter ego ‘The Financial Bloke’ was born!
I dedicated my time to educating as many people as possible…
I launched the Wealth & Wisdom Podcast with an aim to connect with successful producers, industry experts and key people of interest to share their stories and the secrets of their successes. I began writing a column in the Queensland Country Life publication, and also started delivering educational presentations for rural community groups.
By focusing on education and coaching principles, I was able to interweave my own two decades worth of professional experience to provide valuable insights and practical tips that rural families could implement in their business in real time!
The formula was unique, but it just worked!
Before long, I had an increasing number of people reaching out to me. They liked what they heard and resonated with the range of topics I was addressing. They began asking me to help them directly.
…Challenge accepted!
I now coach large-scale farming families, helping them build a brighter future for themselves and their next generations.
Eventually, ‘The Financial Bloke’ evolved into what is known today as ‘AgriCoach’.
